Dress Style: Usually wearing jeans and tank tops to allow for his wings, however in public he'll throw on a binding to keep his wings against him, and a denim duster over that to hide his mutant heritage.

Personality: Funloving, he enjoys music a great deal, and is all about the parties... he's a genuine Romeo, smooth with the words when he wants to hook up with one of the ladies he's had his eyes on. Though currently his eyes are only set on Julia, genuinely loving her with everything he has. He's quick with a joke and a smile, perhaps the only person to ever make his sister, Paige, honestly laugh.

Likes: Julia, Flying, and Music

Dislikes: Anti-mutant groups, the Cabots (well... most of them), and stormy weather.

History:
Jay is the third born in the Guthrie Clan, in Cumberland, Kentucky. His father, Thomas Zebulon Guthrie, or Ty, a coal miner, and his mother, Lucinda have a lot of love to give the rapidly growing family. As he is growing he learns of his love of the arts. Most importantly, music. He began with the guitar, his eighth birthday present, and by then he had a plethora of fans... his siblings... perhaps the largest fan base for any starter. Unfortunately tragedy would strike the Guthrie household that same year. Ty had contracted black lung from working in the coal mines, and was dying. At the age of ten, Jay's father left his world.

Sam and Paige, his oldest siblings, soon manifested mutant abilities, breeding animosity amongst the local townfolk, and bringing to light the first bits of anti-mutant hype that Jay had ever really seen first hand. When his own mutant abilities manifested he kept them to himself, playing in a local band as the lead singer. Using his powers to sound like an entire choir, though everyone else thought it was some sort of stage gimmick. When he finally 'came out' as a mutant, was when he showed his wings on stage, also playing that off as a stage gimmick.

This led to a stronger animosty amongst the Cabot family. When at the age of thirteen Jay had expressed an interest in the young Julia Cabot. Her father, never liking Ty, tried to form a lynch mob to burn down the Guthrie house. However, the townfolk may have disliked the Guthrie family, they never wanted to kill them, and none stood with Cabot. Cabot, unable to do much of anything else, merely fumed and plotted against them.

Sam left for a long time... for years... rarely contacting home, and Paige had followed. For that Jay really dislikes Sam, one for abandoning his family, and taking his older sister away from him. He adores Paige, and when she returned home he was happy, though she often wasn't, not without his prodding, and uncanny knack of drawing out a smile from her. Unknown to any of the Guthries... Sam and Paige were being targetted by William Stryker. They were to be next on his list, fortunately though, the X-Men took them out before they had a chance to do anything.

Despite the Cabot's animosity and hatred, Lucinda didn't think much of it... it wasn't until a news clip hit the airs... their was a mutant cure... and a war on Alcatraz. She was contemplating sending Jay to Xavier's... he'd visited before offering to take her children, to teach them how to use their powers better, for good, under safer conditions... it wasn't until Jeb manifested powers that she realized it was needed. Jeb fired a blast of blue energy from his mouth, cracking the ribs of one of Lee Cabot Senior's sons... Jay promptly took the wrap, knowing how much trouble he'd be in... as Lee tried to enlist the local sherriff to arrest Jay and put a bullet in his head... The sherriff told Lucinda this, having wanted her forever, just giving her a headsup. That was all she needed to here, and she sent Jay to Xavier's for it... but not before one last night with Julia.

Mutant Powers:
Wings: Jay has a pair of crimson colored, feathery wings that allow him to fly at speeds of about a hundred miles per hour.

Healing factor: His wings produce an enzyme into his bloodstream that allow him to heal at a rapid pace, allowing him to survive normally fatal injuries.

Vocal Manipulation: Jay can produce sonic frequencies impossible for normal humans and can even produce multiple sounds, or voices at once.

Increased strength: Jay can lift about three times his own body weight, despite his thin, wiry muscles, that's about 595 lbs!

Weaknesses:

Wings: No one knows this one little fact about his wings... the enzyme they create, allowing him to heal, can easily, though painfully cancelled. Removing his wings renders his healing ability innate, meaning he would be only heal as though he was a normal human, and his wings would never grow back.

Throat: Jay's vocal abilities can also be cancelled out if he's ever strangled, or rendered mute in some way. However, if his throat is ever crushed, while it would render him mute, it'd just heal, that is of course if he still has wings.

Strength: While he is incredibly strong, he is not incredibly durable, he has the durability of a normal human... meaning if he threw a car that hit someone big (ie. Juggernaut) and got it thrown back... He'd be taken out of the picture until his bones resetted and healed, and his wounds sealed.


Skills:
Musical Aptitude: Jay is an extremely talented musician. Able to play any instrument within seconds, he prefers the guitar, but he can play drums, piano (or any other sort of keyboard), an assortment of wind instruments, etc. And he can play any melody by ear as well. This has allowed him to tune instruments, flawlessly, by knowing the note he needs, making the note with his vocal chords, and tuning until the two matched. It is a natural skill that has nothing to do with his mutation, he could only be described as a musical protege.

Brawling: The first fight Jay was in with the Cabots, resulted in his dear, older sister, Paige, getting hurt, and their father getting her training in several different martial arts. Being the third oldest child, he looked up to those above him, and asked for Paige to teach him in return. She did. He's skilled in aerial combat, though he can hold his own in a fist fight, he has a tendacity to swoop down, pick up a foe and hurl them into a tree... or another enemy.

Tactical mind: Each of the Guthries have a different area of expertise, Sam was just hard headed, Paige could rely on brute force, and was the heart.... Jay saw things tactically. He actually doesn't like fighting, though he believes it is necessary, so he's learned how to end things quickly, everything becomes a chess game to him. This is a skill that works wonders both on the field and off, both when dealing with younger siblings or Sam... Or in dealing with the Brotherhood, or anti-mutant groups

Weaknesses: Julia... if anything ever happens to her... his personality will change drastically, can be rather stubborn (though not as bad as Sam), and adores attention lauded on him.
